Waxing Crescent

First steps and the awakening of momentum

The Waxing Crescent is the first visible step of the moon after the darkness. That thin sliver of light on the sky is a promise, the beginning of a journey. Energetically this phase corresponds to the first sprouts: tender, vulnerable, yet full of vitality.

This is the best time to begin acting on the intentions you set at the New Moon. First steps — write the first lines, make the first call, enrol in a course, open the notebook. It is important to act, but without rushing: a seedling does not need to be pulled upward; it needs space.

In traditional agriculture the waxing moon was used for sowing crops whose fruits grow above the ground: wheat, flowers, herbs. It was believed that the moon "draws" the plant's juices upward, nourishing the stems and leaves. This principle applies to human endeavours too: use this phase for what needs to "grow upward."

A ritual: create an intention board or simply a list on paper — with images, words, and the feeling of where you are heading. Place it where you will see it every day. Let the images nourish your intention.
